25th Plenary Meeting of the Consultative Council of European Judges (CCJE)

In representation of our country, Mr Mehmet Emre Sarıyıldız and Mr Hakan Bulut, Rapporteur Judges of the Foreign Relations and Projects Bureau of CJP, attended the Plenary Meeting of Consultative Council of European Judges (CCJE) held in Strasbourg/France on 4-6 December 2024. 

The agenda of the meeting that was attended by participants from various levels representing the judicial organs of the member states of the Council of Europe was the evaluation of the Draft Opinion No. 27 titled “Disciplinary Liability of Judges”. During the meeting, in line with the comments and contributions of representatives of member countries, the basic principles related to organisation of judges’ discipline procedures in a fair and efficient way and according to the principle of independence were discussed. 

Besides, the thematic study on “Diversity and Inclusivity in the Judiciary” was analysed in detail and the importance of judges with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives was emphasised. This thematic study incorporates important recommendations to strengthen judicial procedures on the basis of justice and impartiality and to increase the trust of all segments of society. 

Within the scope of the meeting, our delegation also participated in the reception organised by Ambassador Caitríona Doyle, Permanent Representative of Ireland to the Council of Europe, in her official residence in Strasbourg on 4 December 2024. In this event, views were exchanged with representatives of member countries in an informal setting and experiences about judicial systems were shared.
