Akın Gürlek was born in 1982 in Nevşehir and graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Law in 2005.

Having served as a judge in various provinces and districts across Türkiye, Mr. Gürlek held the position of Presiding Judge of the Istanbul 14th High Criminal Court.

Between 1 June 2022 and 7 October 2024, he served as Deputy Minister of Justice.

From 8 October 2024 to 11 February 2026, he held the office of Chief Public Prosecutor of Istanbul.

By the appointment of the President of the Republic of Türkiye, he was appointed as Minister of Justice on 11 February 2026.

Akın Gürlek is married and has one child.
