The Consultative Council of European Judges (CCJE) was founded in 2000 by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, and makes efforts towards the strengthening of the role of the European Judges in states of law.

The CCJE carries out a consultation duty before the Council of Europe regarding the independence, impartiality and efficiency of judges, and is the first and only organ, consisting of judges, to function under such an international organization.
