Born in Malatya in 1975, Mr. Ateş is originally from Elazığ. After having completed his primary education in Darıca and secondary education in Beykoz and Kartal, he started his education in Istanbul University, Faculty of Law in 1994 and he graduated in 1998. The same year, he started his master’s programme in the Department of Public Law in Social Sciences Institute of Istanbul University. He completed his military service as a Second Lieutenant Legal Expert at Malatya Construction Real Estate Department of the Ministry of National Defense between 2000 and 2001.
At the beginning of 2002, he started working as a lawyer at the Directorate for Legal Services in the Municipality of Pendik and then he continue his duty as a lawyer in 1st Legal Consultancy Office of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality. After having served as a self-employed lawyer for 3 years, he was accepted into profession as a judge at the beginning of 2012. He worked as Tarsus Public Prosecutor between 2012 and 2015 and he served in 9th, 6th and 16th Criminal Chambers of Court of Cassation between 2015 and 2021. In 2021, he was appointed as Member in Gaziantep Regional Court of Justice. He was appointed as General Director of Legal Services of the Ministry of Justice by the Presidential Decree No. 2024/153 dated 27/05/2024, published in the Official Gazette No 32559 dated 28/05/2024.
He was elected as CJP member on 29/05/2025 with the approval of the President of the Republic of Türkiye.
He is married with three children. |
