The 14th Plenary Meeting of the Consultative Council of European Prosecutors (CCPE)

Consultative Council of European Prosecutors (CCPE), which was established as a consultative body to the Committee of Ministers of Council of Europe in 2005 in order to collect information about the functioning of prosecution services in Europe, to carry out studies on the role of public prosecution in the criminal justice system and has in particular the task to prepare opinions for the Committee of Ministers on issues related to the prosecution service, held its 14th Plenary Meeting on 21-22 November 2019 in Paris/France.

On behalf of the Council of Judges and Prosecutors (CJP), Mrs. Emine Burcu Sinoplu and Mr. Ali Rıza Ülker, Rapporteur Judges of the Foreign Relations and Project Bureau attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the participants worked on the issue entitled “The role of prosecutors in fighting corruption and related economic and financial crime”  which had been chosen to work on the plenary meeting of the last year and which was prepared during the working group meetings of 2019 of which CJP was a member. Following this study, 14th Opinion of CCPE was put in its final form.

Furthermore, the new president and vice-president were elected upon the termination of the terms of office of the previous ones.

Additionally, Mr. Ali Rıza Ülker was elected as the member of working group, which is authorised to and responsible for preparing draft opinion that will be taken as a basis to 15th Opinion of CCPE chosen for the year of 2020.
