The 16th Plenary Meeting of the Consultative Council of European Prosecutors (CCPE)

Consultative Council of European Prosecutors (CCPE), which was established as a consultative body to the Committee of Ministers of Council of Europe in 2005 in order to collect information about the functioning of prosecution services in Europe, to carry out studies on the role of public prosecution in the criminal justice system and has in particular the task to prepare opinions for the Committee of Ministers on issues related to the prosecution service, held its 16th Plenary Meeting on 25-26 November 2021 in Strasbourg/France.

On behalf of the Council of Judges and Prosecutors (CJP), Mr. Ali Rıza Ülker and Mr.Onur Ustali, Rapporteur Judges of the Foreign Relations and Project Bureau attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the participants worked on the draft opinion entitled “The Implications Of The Decisions Of International Courts And Treaty Bodies As Regards The Practical Independence Of Prosecutors”  which had been chosen to work on the plenary meeting of the last year and which was prepared during the working group meetings of 2021. Following this study, 16th Opinion of CCPE was put in its final form.

Furthermore, the new president, the vice-president and bureau members were elected upon the termination of the terms of office of the previous ones.

Additionally, Mr. Ali Rıza Ülker was elected as the member of working group, which is authorised to and responsible for preparing draft opinion that will be taken as a basis to 17th Opinion of CCPE chosen for the year of 2022.
