The 16th round of the Sub-Committee No. 8 meeting on Customs, Taxation, Drug Trafficking and Money Laundering, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was held online on 24-25 February 2021 with the participation of related public institutions and agencies.

Both the preliminary meeting with officials from Ministry of Justice and the Sub-Committee No. 8 meeting were attended by Mr. Mehmet Emre Sarıyıldız, Rapporteur Judge of the Foreign Affairs and Projects Bureau, on behalf of CJP.

The meeting focused on the issues under the Chapter 23 “Judiciary and Fundamental Rights”, the Chapter 24 “Justice, Freedom and Security” and also the Chapter 16 “Taxation” and the Chapter 32 “Financial Control” within the framework of EU accession process of Türkiye. It provided a forum for exchanging views on the recent developments both in Türkiye and the EU, concerning judicial system, fundamental rights, migration and border management, visa policy, fight against organized crime, police cooperation, fight against terrorism and anticorruption, financial control and taxation as well as future work plans.
