The 24th Annual Conference and the General Assembly of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP), to which the Council of Judges and Prosecutors is a member, was arranged in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 15-19 September 2019. Our council was represented in the conference, in which more than four hundred thirty representatives from more than one hundred countries, and several international organisations took part, by Mr. Hüseyin Cem Eren, and Mr. Veli Ünal, the Rapporteur Judges of the Foreign Relations and Projects Bureau.

The main topic of the conference was “The International cooperation Among Different Judicial Systems”, and various elements of the international cooperation were discussed during the subsections. Within this context, Mr. Hüseyin Cem Eren participated in the panels actively with his questions, and Mr. Veli Ünal delivered a presentation regarding the measures taken within the judiciary in Türkiye with a view to facilitate the judicial cooperation process at the general assembly on the third day of the conference. In addition, issues regarding mutual cooperation were elaborated, study visits between some participating countries and international organisations such as EUROJUST, UNODC and IAP were organised, and positive results were gained on various matters such as the Visiting Professionals’ programme.

Also, the handover ceremony for Mr. Cheol-Kyu HWANG, the new President of the IAP and the new management board was arranged during the conference. The conference ended after the closing speeches and the information regarding the next general assembly given at the final day.
