The executive board of the network one of the founding members of which is Türkiye, which gained the name "The Balkan and Euro-Mediteranean Network of Councils for Judiciary” with the agreement signed last year, convened a meeting in Rome on 21-22 April 2016. The meeting was hosted by the Italian High Council of Judiciary, and the aim of the meeting was to arrange the necessary preparations before the general assembly meeting that will be held in Italy, and to negotiate about the recent issues that need to be handle within the network.
The meeting was attended by Türkiye, Italy, Bulgaria and Bosnia hersegovina, which comprise the management board of the network, Hungary as the secretariat of the network, and Albania as the director of the network.
Representatives from the councils of judiciary in the managing countries participated in the meeting. From Türkiye, Mr. Rasim Aytin, the Member of the First Chamber of the HCJP, Mr. Bilgin Başaran, Secretary General of the HCJP, and Mr. Burak Turan Benli, Rapporteur Judge at the HCJP attended the meeting. The General Assembly of the Network will arrange a meeting in Rome on 13-14 June 2016.
