::: The Visit of Mr. Nils Muiznieks, the Council of Europe’s Commissioner for Human Rights, to the High Council of Judges and Prosecutors of Türkiye

A delegation from the Human Rights Directorate of the Council of Europe, chaired by Mr. Nils Muiznieks, the Council of Europe’s Commissioner for Human Rights, and composed of Mr. Giancarlo Cardinale, the Deputy Director at the Human Rights Directorate of the Council of Europe, and Mr. Hasan Bermek, the Advisor to the Commissioner for Human Rights, visited the High Council of Judges and Prosecutors of Türkiye on April 12, 2016.

The delegation was greeted at the Plenary Session Hall by Mr. Mehmet Yılmaz, the Deputy President of the HCJP, Mr. Halil Koç, the President of the First Chamber of the HCJP, Mr. Bilgin Başaran, the Secretary General of the HCJP, and Mrs. Müjgan Karyağdı, the Deputy Secretary General of the HCJP.

Within the framework of the visit, negotiations were made regarding the freedom of expression of the judges and prosecutors of Türkiye and activities to prevent human rights violations in the works of the HCJP.

The visit of the Committee was concluded following the presentation of gifts.
