A delegation, which is in Türkiye with the purpose of exchanging opinions with certain institutions and organizations, composed of Ms. Aygen Becquart, the Head of Evaluation Division at the Directorate of Internal Oversight of the Council of Europe, Prof. Dr. Osman Doğru, Head of the Department of Human Rights at the Marmara University, and Ms. Didem Soyaltın, visited the High Council of Judges and Prosecutors of Türkiye on April 18, 2016.

The delegation was greeted at the Plenary Session Hall by Mr. Mehmet Yılmaz, the Deputy President of the HCJP, Mr. Halil Koç, the President of the First Chamber of the HCJP, Mr. Ramazan Kaya, Member of the Second Chamber of the HCJP, Mr. Bilgin Başaran, the Secretary General of the HCJP, and Mrs. Müjgan Karyağdı, the Deputy Secretary General of the HCJP.

Within the framework of the visit, negotiations were made regarding the relations of the HCJP with organizations within the Council of Europe, such as the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ), the Consultative Council of European Judges (CCJE), the Consultative Council of European Prosecutors (CCPE) and the Venice Commission; recent reports and declarations issued by these organizations and the responses of the HCJP to these reports and declarations; the benefits these organizations provide to Türkiye; the opinions of the HCJP on the Report of 2012 prepared by the Council of Europe’s Commissioner for Human Rights regarding Türkiye; and the projects carried out by the HCJP.

The visit of the Committee was concluded following the presentation of gifts.
