The Visit of the President of the Judicial Council of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Accompanying Delegation to Our Council

Mrs. Vesna DAMEVA, the president of the Judicial Council of the Republic of North Macedonia, our ally in the Balkans with whom we have close relations and cooperation that draw their strength from common history and culture, and the accompanying delegation paid a working visit to our Council on 9th February 2024. 


The guest delegation was welcomed by the delegation presided by Mr. Mehmet Akif EKİNCİ, the Acting President of our Council and composed of Mr. Atilla ÖZTÜRK, the Secretary General; Mr. Osman Nuri YİĞİT, the President of the Inspection Board; Mr. Sinan EKİCİ, Dr. Müjgan KARYAĞDI, Mr. Ramazan AKIN, Mr. Cem KARACA, the Deputies of Secretary General; Mr. Selçuk TELLİ, the Deputy President of the Inspection Board; Mr. Mehmet Emre SARIYILDIZ and Mr. Hakan BULUT, Rapporteur Judges. Former President and Member of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of North Macedonia Mr. Sali MURATI, was also present at the reception and the guest delegation was accompanied by Mr. Ahmet BAŞARAN, Deputy Director General of the Directorate General for Foreign Relations and EU Affairs of the Ministry of Justice; M. İlker BELGİN, Head of Department and Mr. Furkan USTAOĞLU, Rapporteur Judge. 


During the meeting, the guest delegation was informed about the judicial system of our country as well as the brief history, structure, duties and functioning our Council. English copies of Information Booklet on the structure and functioning of our Council, the Declaration of Ethics for Turkish Judiciary and the Manual on the Use of Social Media (as a part of the Declaration of Ethics for Turkish Judiciary) were distributed to the guest delegation. 


Following that, the guest delegation gave information on the judicial system of the Republic of North Macedonia and especially on the issues that has been recently discussed and the planned reforms. The guest delegation expressed their wish to make use of the knowledge and experience of our Council during the reform works and the delegations agreed on signing a memorandum of understanding on this matter. 


The meeting was finalised with an exchange of gifts following the expression of wishes to further develop close relations between these two countries especially in the judiciary.
