Türkiye is a Party to “the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials in International Business Transactions”. The Ministry of Justice, as the coordinating authority, is responsible for carrying out the processes relating to the country evaluations conducted by the OECD Working Group on Bribery (WGB) which was established under this Convention.  

As decided at the WGB’s Plenary Meeting on 8-12 March 2021, considering the Phase 3 Additional Written Follow-up Report in the light of the WGB Phase 3 recommendations, a High Level Mission had a virtual visit to our country on 21-22 June 2021 in order to discuss the recommendations addressed to Türkiye.    

The event was opened by Mr. Abdulhamit GUL, the Minister of Justice and the President of the Council of Judges and Prosecutors (CJP), and chaired by Mr Yakup MOGOL, the Deputy Minister of Justice. The event was attended by the members of Parliament, namely Mr. Yılmaz TUNÇ, as the Chair of the TGNA Justice Committee and Mr Orhan KIRCALI and Mr Mustafa ARSLAN, as the members of the said Committee, along with some senior representatives from various institutions including the Ministry of Justice, the CJP, the Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Mr Seyfi HAN, the Secretary General of the CJP and Mr Mehmet Emre SARIYILDIZ, Rapporteur Judge, represented our Council and, Mr Secretary General gave information and explanations in the event which was held in a positive atmosphere. Moreover, the High Level Mission expressed their pleasure with the progress that Türkiye had made in the fight against the foreign bribery.
