Visit of the Delegation of the Academy for Judges and Public Prosecutors of the Republic of North Macedonia to our Council

On 15 May 2025, the delegation of the Academy for Judges and Public Prosecutors of North Macedonia, on a visit in our country at the invitation of the Justice Academy of Türkiye, also visited our Council.

The guest delegation headed by Ms. Irina TRAJKOSKA STREZOSKI (Director of the Academy for Judges and Public Prosecutors of North Macedonia) and Mr Besnik AVDIJA (Chairperson of the Academy’s Board of Directors and President of the Skopje Civil Court of First Instance) was accompanied by Ms. Dusika DIMITRIESKA (President of the Council of Public Prosecutors of the North Macedonia and Member of the Academy’s Board of Directors), Ms. Ivica NIKOLOVSKI (Member of the Judicial Council of North Macedonia and member of the Academy’s Programme Council), Ms. Ivana MILANOVIK and Ms. Naile ALJIU (Representatives of the Academy), and Ms Gent SALIHI and Ms. Radmila ONCHEVSKA KARPUZOVSKA (Representatives of the Skopje Office of Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance).

The delegation was welcomed by Mr. Mehmet Akif EKİNCİ (Acting President of our Council and President of the 2nd Chamber), Mr. Atila ÖZTÜRK (Secretary General), Mr. Osman Nuri YİĞİT (Chairman of the Board of Inspectors), and Dr Müjgan KARYAĞDI (Deputy Secretary General). The delegation was given a presentation on the structure of our Council, the duties and authorities of the Chambers, the admission to the profession, appointment, promotion and disciplinary procedures of judges and prosecutors. They were also informed about institutional cooperation activities in the international arena.

This was followed by mutual exchange of views on the differences in practice and areas of common work between the judicial institutions of the two countries. In particular, detailed information was requested on the procedures for conducting disciplinary investigations against judges and prosecutors as well as the ethical principles regarding the use of social media. In this context questions were raised regarding the relevant legislation, practical implementation and oversight mechanisms.

The visit ended with a luncheon hosted by our Council in honour of the delegation, gifts were exchanged and a group photo was taken to commemorate the visit.
