In order to maintain the procedure initiated with the meeting under the name of “the Judicial Councils of the Turkic Speaking Countries” hosted by our Council on 22-23 December 2015 in Istanbul within the scope of “The Organization of Turkic States” and to exchange information and improve cooperation, on 5-11 November 2023, our delegation visited the Prosecutor’s General Office of The Republic of Azerbaijan and the Supreme Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan, located in Baku, the capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan, our friendly and brotherly nation with whom we are ‘One Nation Two States’ and the Supreme Judicial Council of Uzbekistan which is located in Tashkent, the capital of the Republic of Uzbekistan., our fatherland.
During these visits, our council was represented by the delegation presided by Mrs. Aysel Demirel, member of the 2nd Chamber and the delegation was composed of Mr. Sinan Esen, member of the 2nd Chamber; Mr. Ömür Topaç, Mrs. Havvanur Yurtsever, Mr. Ömer Faruk Yıldırım, members of the 1st Chamber; Mr. Akın Gürlek, member of the 1st Chamber and the Deputy Minister; Mr. Atila Öztürk, the Secretary General; Mr. Osman Nuri Yiğit, the President of the Inspection Board; Mr. Sinan Ekici, the Deputy Secretary General; Mr. Hakan Bulut and Mr. Mehmet Emre Sarıyıldız, Rapporteur Judges.
During these visits, our delegation was informed about the structures, duties, functioning of the Prosecutor’s General Office of The Republic of Azerbaijan, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Judicial-Legal Council and their places in the legal system of Azerbaijan. During the Uzbekistan part of the visit, information was exchanged and evaluations were made about the structure, duties and functioning of the Supreme Judicial Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the legal system of Uzbekistan. Within the framework of these visits, the host delegations were informed primarily about the structure, duties and functioning of our Council and Turkish legal system and the content of works to be carried out in the upcoming period about the the Network of Judicial Councils of the Organization of Turkic States with the aim of improving cooperation was discussed. After the expression of the hopes to further strengthen bilateral relations, gift presentation ceremonies were held.
Additionally, Azerbaijan’s 8 November Victory Day was congratulated by the head of our delegation Mrs. Aysel Demirel who gave a speech in the event organized by the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the Victory Day symbolizing the restoration of territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
Our delegation returned to Türkiye on 11 November 2023 after the completion of works.
